Moved out in July 2018 · 20 to 29 years · UndergraduatePROS - great location for supermarkets (2 mins away), services and public transportation (many direct lines to the center - max 20 mins), very sunny room, balcony, very clean and livable common areas, very helpful landlord, very quiet neighbors, flexible contract, well furnished room, enough kitchen tools, enough bathrooms. CONS - very noisy and busy street, very old doors and windows (bad insulation), very thin walls, washing machine for a fee, lack of an oven, lack of blankets, lack of heating system.

Moved out in December 2017 · 20 to 29 years · InternshipA really nice room in a fantastic location. A 2 minute walk to the hip LX Factory in Alcântara. Location wise I would not want to be anywhere else, I really love this area. Near to three supermarkets and a train/tram/bus stop. The room itself is in an old traditional Portuguese building, with high and decorated ceilings. Very spacious. Downside is that it gets incredibly cold in the winter, and there isn’t any heating, so I had to borrow an electric heater from my employer. A modern ensuite bathroom which is always good. Not really a nice living room to chill, but my huge room compensated for that. The kitchen is fine, but when using the electric stove, kettle and toaster the fuses would blow occasionally. In the warmer months there can be cockroaches in the house, but this is typical for older buildings in Lisbon. The rent was comparable to prices paid in my home country of the Netherlands, I expected cheaper prices in Lisbon. I would definitely stay here again, but do note that the walls are quite thin, so you will hear parties in the kitchen by exchange students (which I was not). All in all a great apartment in (now) one of my favourite cities. So if this apartment is available, go for it!
