The common areas, such as the kitchen and the living room are big enough so that the 3 people living there (for my case at least) can share them with no issues at all. Every space, and specially the rooms, receive a lot of natural light. The apartment isn't so well connected with the city, but the subway is at a 15-20 minute walk and so is the engineering faculty (FEUP). Anyway, right next to the building you can find some little places that provide anything you might need, with people that are very happy to help (There's also a big supermarket 15 minutes away by foot). The landlady Carla is very nice and willing to resolve any issues you may have, always asking how you are doing. Overall it was a great experience and without any problems. I recommend it fully
