Alvalade is a very green and residential neighbourhood. For a student living in Lisbon, it might be a little bit slow (sometimes even boring). But if you value quality of life over nightlife, it could be a very good bet. The neighbourhood of Alvalade is known for its great (almost Parisian) boulevards. Proud, middle-class locals walk and talk under the shade of the trees. It’s a peaceful and quiet area of Lisbon with good restaurants, plenty of typical cafés and a good lifestyle. It's very well connected transport-wise, with it's own metro station and plenty of buses. The metro (green line) takes you to the city centre in under 20 minutes. You'll also be within walking distance of Lisbon's main campus (Cidade Universitária).
