Harrow

London, United Kingdom

Harrow is a large London Borough on the northwest edge of the capital. It is most famous for the prestigious Harrow School, arguably one of the most famous children's public schools in the world. Harrow is a large geographical area with a population of around a quarter of a million. Parts of it are very, very rich. Rental rates by Harrow-on-the-Hill (close to Harrow School) are incredibly expensive, but you can still finding cheaper areas in this large London borough. It is still possible to find properties from around £100-£160 a week, as Harrow is quite far out from the centre of the city. Harrow is most convenient for studying at Westminster University's Harrow Campus and isn't too far form the University of Middlesex in nearby Barnet. Expect a long commute to the centre for any of London's main Universities. Harrow is served by multiple stations on the Metropolitan, Piccadilly, Bakerloo and Overground Lines, with: Harrow-on-the-Hill (Metropolitan), North Harrow (Metropolitan), West Harrow (Metropolitan) and Kenton (Bakerloo/Overground) being the main stations.

Les voisins

Aside from the extremely privileged local Harrow school kids, the area is actually very ethnically mixed. You'll find plenty of multicultural communities.

Points intéressants

Harrow School, although frighteningly posh, was in fact involved in the writing of the rules of Association Football. Churchill went there too.

The Grim's Dyke Hotel, former home of W.S. Gilbert (of Gilbert & Sullivan fame) is in Harrow and holds regular Opera Dinners throughout the year.

Le mode de vie

Suburban and ethnically diverse, living in certain parts of Harrow can be purely for the elite, but mostly it is an incredibly culturally fascinating place.
