The Polytechnic University of Madrid has four campuses spread out in different areas of the city: Ciudad Universitaria, Madrid City, Campus Sur and Montegancedo
In the Ciudad Universitaria campus you can find most of the UPM faculties, such as Telecommunications or Architecture, and has its own metro stop (Ciudad Universitaria, line 6). The neighborhoods of Vallehermoso, Arapiles, Gaztambique and Trafalgar, belonging to the district of Chamberí, are highly recommended to live if you study in this campus. The metro line from Quevedo (line 2), in Arapiles, to Ciudad Universitaria takes 28 minutes. The nearest area is Argüelles, from where you can get to the campus in just 18 minutes (metro line 6). Another option to live is the Tetuan district, since you can reach Ciudad Universitaria in about 35 minutes by metro.
The Madrid City campus is formed by four faculties located next to the metro stops Gregorio Marañón, Embajadores, Rios Rosas and Atocha. The best areas to look for well-connected accommodation are Almagro (19 minutes walk to Ríos Rosas), Ríos Rosas, La Castellana (10 minutes walk to Gregorio Marañón) and Lavapiés (5 minutes walk to Embajadores)
The South Campus is located in Vallecas and houses technical schools of various engineering, in addition to the University Institute of Automobile Research. Despite being some distance from the center of Madrid, the most desirable area to live if you are going to study in the South Campus but want to be in the center of Madrid activity is Sol. The train journey from Sol to Vallecas station Is only 20 minutes (lines C4 and C2 of Cercanías) and 30 minutes by metro (line 1).
The Campus of Montegancedo is located to the west of Madrid, near Boadilla del Monte. For university students studying in this campus the best areas to look for accommodation are Ciudad Universitaria and Moncloa. The journey by public transport from Moncloa lasts one hour and 17 minutes (metro lines 6 and 10 and light rail line ML3).
