The University of Milan-Bicocca (Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca) is the newest in the city and has been built in the old industrial complex that housed the factories of Pirelli, which recovered the an abandoned area after Industrial times. Ten years after the university opened doors, the neighborhood is practically unrecognizable. Bicocca Village is a new shopping center with cinemas and a gym, there is also the Arcimboldi Theater, with a calendar full of musicals, plays and dance. Adding to this ,HangarBicocca, an old factory was converted into an exhibition hall and is the pride of Milan's contemporary art scene, thanks to its magnificent exhibitions and futuristic exhibitions.
The new residential complexes contribute to the pleasant atmosphere of the neighborhood, where there is no lack of green areas and new premises and restaurants. The redevelopment has brought with it a greater offer of accommodation near the University of Bicocca, especially higher quality flats and competitive rents with respect to the rest of Milan.
Bicocca is well connected to other areas of the city, thanks to new transport services, especially the new M5 metro line. HOW TO GET TO BICOCCA
The University of Milan-Bicocca has its own station (Greco Pirelli) and is ten minutes from Central Station and Lambrate. You also have access to direct trains to Monza, Lecco and Bergamo. The new metro line (M5) stops at Bicocca, making it very useful for students, while Ponale is closer to Bicocca Village. If you prefer to get a surface transport, you can take tram 7, which runs Viale Fulvio Testi and arrives to Piazzale Lagosta, in the middle of the Isola district (ideal to go out at night).
