UFP (Universidade Fernando Pessoa) was founded in 1996. This young private university in Porto is named after one of the most important writers in Portuguese history. The university's motto is to innovate in knowledge and in teaching methods, on which it prides itself. UFP's student community promotes several events for international students, including an academy where students get to improve their skills across the board in several areas that will increase their employability. To get to UFP, you can either take the metro’s yellow line to the “Pólo Universitário” station, or one of several buses servicing the area (300, 301, 304, 600, 603, 704).
