Santos is Lisbon’s favourite party neighbourhood for young people. Creative, lively and fun-loving, the Santos neighbourhood has a great atmosphere during the day and really comes alive at night. Santos is THE neighbourhood in Lisbon for dancers and designers. Santos is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Lisbon: after all, it’s full name is Santos-O-Velho, meaning “Santos, the old”. Santos’ palaces and churches are centuries old, but are very well maintained, and so are the old, narrow streets that criss-cross this part of town. Because of all this historical importance, no place in the city would be better than this to set up the Museu de Art Antiga (Museum of Ancient Art), one of the best curated historical museums in Lisbon. During the day, many of the smaller streets of Santos may seem slow and asleep. But at night, most of the neighbourhood comes alive, especially around the neighbourhood's main square - Jardim de Santos. This square is Lisbon’s favourite pre-drinks party place for late teenagers and young adults, a place where you can enjoy beers on the sidewalk before heading to one of the city’s wildest nightclubs, Urban Beach.
