During the seven months I lived there, I felt at home. Having said that I must remark some aspects that may help who is looking for a home in Barcelona. (1) The apartment is at the 4th floor and the building has not a lift. The stairs are narrow, irregular and even dirty. Going up and down twice and three times daily is sometimes boring and you may get tired; (2) Another aspect is the location. It is perfect in many ways. The street is charming and it is in middle of the medieval Barcelona. There are supermarkets, drugstores and whatever you need close to you. BUT the quiet street is quite noisy during the night. The street becomes a box of resonance when crowds of tourists come to the bar situated just in front of the building. You do not hear any sound coming from inside, but the costumers are not conscious of how they disturb all the dwellers of the street... Even when they are talking normally you hear what they are saying as if they were at your side. If you have light sleep or if you do not enjoy sleeping late, it may be a problem. Earplugs help a lot, but you must be used to it; (3) Concerning the apartment itself, it is really cozy and charming. The main problem are the appliances. They are too old and should be replaced. And the mattress is too soft... if you like harder mattress, you will have a problem! All in all I would give it 3,5 stars out of 5... with new appliances, a better mattress and double-glassed windows, it could be 5 stars.
