The TU Berlin is ranked 7th in the THE University Ranking of Germany and has more than 30.000 students.
The central campus of the TU Berlin is located in the district of Charlottenburg near the Großer Tiergarten. It is divided by the Straße des 17. Juni into a northern and a southern half. Apart from the main building, this is also the location of the buildings for mathematics, chemistry, physics and architecture. Other locations are in the districts of Wedding, Schöneberg, Steglitz and Zehlendorf.
The very well-connected central campus can be reached from Alexanderplatz within 20 minutes by a 10-minute suburban train ride followed by 10-minute walk. Alternatively, you can take the subway and walk a few hundred meters from the Ernst-Reuter-Platz stop. This option takes only slightly more time.
Convenient residential areas for students studying on the central campus are Charlottenburg, Wilmersdorf, Tiergarten and Hansaviertel. The two locations in Wedding can be reached best with the subway, when coming from Berlin-Mitte at Alexanderplatz. To get to the Ackerstraße / TIB-Gelände site, it is only a few minutes until the stop Voltastraße and from there an 800-meters walk. To reach Seestraße, take the U8 to Osloer Straße and change to the tram to arrive at Seestraße.
The TU-Campus EUERF in Schöneberg can be reached in just 20 minutes from Alexanderplatz with the U8 to Hermannstraße and afterwards the S41 to the stop Schöneberg. From there it only takes you 5 minutes to be on the spot.
To get to the botanical campus in Steglitz, students take the S75 from Alexanderplatz to the stop Zoologischer Garten, and then take the U9 which goes to Rathaus Steglitz. From there it is only an 8-minute walk.
The TU building complex Königin-Louise-Straße is located in the neighboring district Zehlendorf, which can be reached best from the stop Stadtmitte with the U2 to Wittenbergplatz and then with the U3 to Podbilskieallee.
Students looking for physical activities after their studies have the possibility to use the gym at the Waldschulallee. To reach the facility from Alexanderplatz, take the S5 towards Spandau and get off at Messe Süd. From there it is still 800 meters to walk to get to the sports campus.
As the campuses of the TU Berlin are spread over the city, you have plenty of choices. The rents in Berlin differ immensely depending on where you live. Generally, you can expect costs of 450 - 800 euros. The cheapest districts, which are still relatively central, are Wedding and Neukölln. If your budget is higher, we can definitely recommend Charlottenburg and Mitte.
