Clerkenwell is the perfect neighbourhood for foodies (with some cash to spare!). It's home to a huge concentration of architects, Michelin starred restaurants and the main campus of City University. This east-central London neighbourhood, just north west of the the capital's traditional centre, is ridiculously close to all the city's culture, nightlife and facilities. Housing in Clerkenwell is highly expensive. It was famous for the beginning of 'loft living' in the capital as many old factories were converted into flats. Many properties rent for as much as £300-400 per week, some student rents can be found for under that, with prices around £180-200 per week possible in either private accommodation and university halls. Living in Clerkenwell is of course extremely convenient for anyone studying at City University, but it is also within a short tube trip or a walk from UCL, The University of London, Kings College and LSE. It is connected to the wider city by Barbican Station (Circle/Hammersmith & City/Metropolitan) and Farringdon Station (Thameslink).
