Best Time to Visit

From late spring (April to May) to early autumn (including summer) is the best time to visit Frankfurt. This is when the city enjoys mild temperatures and sunny days, and when trees are in full bloom making it a pleasure to explore the city on foot. The summer is normally warm, at about 25°C and this is the peak season when to expect a lot of tourists, fairs, outdoor events and festivals. From mid-September to mid-October the city gets ready for the beautiful golden autumn. To get a good look at the spectacular autumn colours, head to one of Frankfurt’s sky-high towers and soak in the sight. Oktoberfest is also held in Frankfurt, it might not be as big as in Munich, but it is a celebration that kicks off mid-September and goes through the first week of October with plenty of exciting events, beer, food and music. If you are into Christmas markets then December is the period to visit Frankfurt: this is when the city hosts one of Germany’s largest Christmas markets.
