You can literally see the sea from the balcony and it is a short walk from the beach, plaça Catalunya and is in the heart of the gothic quarter. On a pretty road with beautiful buildings and generally it has a pretty safe feel to it, there are some amazing restaurants and a little bakery underneath, which is so handy and does wonderful coffee and croissants. Accessible to metros and supermarkets it really is such a fabulous location. However, when I arrived at the room it was filthy. The kitchen was a health hazard to put it lightly and the fridge was thick with mould and slime, dead cockroaches at the bottom of cupboards and a thick layer of dust covered most of the furniture. I spent 20 euros on bleach, rubber gloves and cleaning products and the best part of 8 hours cleaning the room and kitchen in order for me to be able to unpack my things. Not something you want to be doing when you move into a room. Sometimes within the common areas and the hall there was a foul smell which would linger and in general an uncleanly feel to the place. The bathroom was alright however the shower regularly would flood and the drain be clogged with thick black hair (i'm blonde) which Ricardo would then tell me I had to clean because it was my hair, bearing in mind he lets out the other rooms for short tourist stays and I highly doubt cleans it after. It was handy to have a washing machine although I would have to put it on an empty spin before washing my clothes in order to cleanse it of dog hair from Ricardo's previous load. A very honest review I know but things I would like to of been informed of prior to my booking and arrival.
