Moved out in June 2018 · 20 to 29 years · InternshipThe location of the house is very good. Several shops are few minutes away. The same with several public transport stops. Two train stations (Comboios de Portugal line between Cascais and Cais do Sodre) are 10-15 minute walk away. It's relatively far from the city center (where you can go out), so coming back in the middle of the night usually requires taking a taxi/uber/like. At the time when I stayed in the house several of my house mates, studying at different universities, claimed that the location is very good for their commute to classes. There is plenty of cultural places around (Belem...) and a small botanical garden. It's also close to the river if you like going on walks or jogging. The house has many rooms so you live with quite a few people and get a feeling of living in a dorm. This means that it's loud at times, you might have to wait to get to the bathroom and the common areas are more often dirty than clean. But it also means that you have a chance to form friendships and find support when you get overwhelmed with your homework, living away from home, being new in the city, etc. The living room is cozy and there is a terrace upstairs, so you have enough space to hang out with your friends. The kitchen is well equipped. Additionally, there is an electric dryer, an iron, an ironing board. If you own a surfboard or a bike you will find space to keep it indoors. Apart from paying the rent you split the electricity bill with all other tenants, and because of the large number of appliances (incl. heaters during the cold months), it might amount to even 50 eur per person per month. The room I had was in my opinion the best in the house. It's the farthest from the common areas (kitchen, living room, washing machine) which make it more quiet than the other rooms. It's relatively dark which is a benefit during the very sunny months. The locations of the window and the door make it easy to cool the room and air it. The window is a door to the terrace, you can't complain ;) And there are enough shelves and drawers to organize your things.
